"I make slides for a living. That means, we have to do a good job proof reading. You need an independent party to maintain quality!!" That was the whole pitch. Ontario Hydro was about to launch the largest digitization project Canada had ever seen. They were going to take every engineering drawing they had and scan it. We got the job of Quality Assurance. I made a buck per drawing. The guys who invested in new capital equipment (lots of investment) made up to $15.00 per drawing, depending on the size. But a year later, when Hydro knew that the businesses supllying scanning services had recovered their capital costs, they made as little as $0.25 a drawing. I still made a buck. People are happy to pay for something that they intuitively know is the right thing. |
